modelling and simulation action group

Coverage

This action group will consolidate the efforts in modelling and simulation of nanoscale materials and structures that take into account fabrication and integration processes, production equipment and characterization of instrumentation, and other real requirements driven by industrial applications.

Issues to be addressed

  • Measurement uncertainties in simulations at the nanoscale
  • Requirements in reporting computations for nanomaterials: time-scale, effectiveness, reliability
  • Quantum mechanical effects and measurements; natural uncertainty
  • Limitations in comparing models with measurements due to finite number of atoms in a nano-object
